OUR VISION
As a breeder of American Staffordshire Terriers with pedigree, we strive for healthy and social dogs that come as close as possible to the prescribed breed standard of the FCI.
• Healthy Amstaffs
The American Staffordshire Terrier is generally an extremely healthy breed, but like all purebred dogs, the Amstaff has a number of weaker points.
Fortunately, we can eliminate these weaknesses by screening our Amstaffs for a number of conditions and thoughtfully combining the parent animals.
The breeding decree of the Flemish government will come into effect from 1 July 2025. In short, this breeding decision means that the parents of puppies that are sold with a pedigree must meet a number of conditions. These conditions are described in the breeding program, which was submitted by our breed club to the Flemish Government.
However, our parent animals have been screened for all these possible conditions since 2017. We even go further than prescribed and test for a number of conditions that are not included in the breeding program.
The screening results of our parent animals can always be viewed when you visit our kennel.
If you would like to know more about possible conditions within our breed, be sure to check out the 'Health' page on this website.
Our puppies are chipped and vaccinated. The puppies receive an FCI pedigree, a European passport and puppy bundle (education, nutrition and exercise advice) to take home.
• Social Amstaffs
The American Staffordshire Terrier can be described as an active, courageous and cheerful dog. He must be friendly and enthusiastic towards people.
The Amstaff can sometimes be intolerant to other dogs. When challenged, he will not avoid confrontation.
Socialization is therefore extremely important for the breed and this socialization starts from the birth of the puppies.
Our puppies grow up in our living room from birth. From an early age, they become accustomed to household noises (TV, radio, vacuum cleaner, etc.).
From 3 weeks of age we receive short visits from prospective owners, our friends and their children. Our puppies get used to different voices and smells in this way.
From about five weeks of age, the puppies are brought into contact with the other dogs from our pack. This way they not only learn to understand their mother's dog language.
At the age of 6 weeks we go out into the world with the puppies. A walk along the street, a terrace or a visit to the market or fair is on the program.
In this way we hope to give our Amstaff puppies the necessary things to grow into a stable Amstaff.
Even when our puppies have left for their golden basket, it doesn't stop for us. We are always ready with advice and assistance to guide owners and their dogs.
Socialization is very important for our breed, but 'responsible dog ownership' should not be forgotten either! We expect no less from every (future) owner of a Gentle Power puppy.
• Breed standard
A purebred Amstaff must meet a number of criteria, otherwise it would not be an Amstaff. These criteria are described in the breed standard and have remained unchanged since 1936.
By selecting our parent animals we try to approach the breed standard as closely as possible.
This is why we offer our Amstaffs at shows all over Europe in order to get an opinion from judges about our dogs.
If you are interested in the breed standard, be sure to visit the page on this site.
